When people hear me talk about energy I can usually sense that they are feeling uncomfortable or skeptical. Energy is so much a part of our lives; it is just putting a name to different feelings we experience every day. When we are around someone who is grumpy, we can feel it. It's almost a tangible feeling, and it is easy to let it rub off on us, right? On the flip side, being around someone who is always smiley and upbeat just naturally makes us happier! These are examples of negative energy vs. positive energy. Our bodies, our organs, and body systems are all places that negative or positive energy can be stored and absorbed. Often times if someone gets an injury or another physical ailment in a certain part of the body, that area, because it is weak, becomes a magnet for negative energy.
The reason I am sharing all of the information below is so you can all have a better understanding of what I mean when I say 'energy'. How does this relate to foot zoning you may ask? Foot zoning is a way to access, discover, and release the energy within one's body. While foot zoning, I come across so many trapped emotions (the stores of negative energy in your body often present themselves as a physical ailment, sickness, or injury) and I have personally found the zone to be extremely helpful in helping to release trapped emotions. Sometimes there are emotions you didn't even know were trapped, but after you release them you can feel a great sense of relief.
This excerpt from the book, The Emotion Code explains this concept well, and further explains how damaging trapped emotion (aka energy) can be:
Trapped Emotions:
“The most ancient idea in the art of healing is that disease is caused by imbalance in the body. Trapped emotions are perhaps the most common type of imbalance that human beings suffer from. I believe that trapped emotions can be implicated in nearly all diseases, either directly or indirectly.
Because trapped emotions are nearly universal, and because they always create distortion in the energy field of the body, and because they are completely invisible, they can cause an incredibly wide variety of physical problems without being unmasked.
Trapped emotions are truly epidemic, and are the insidious, invisible cause of much suffering and illness, both physical and emotional in nature.” (pg. 21) - The Emotion Code
The Power of Positivity
Below is a video that demonstrates the power of uplifting music and the destructiveness of hard music. Our words and our thoughts are just as powerful as music. Negative thoughts and words can be as damaging to our physical, spiritual, and emotional body as negative music is to this water.
This is another article that relates our body's energy balance to that of an orchestral symphony. He puts it this way: "The body works in much the same way. If a single instrument (organ, or organ system) is playing its own tune, and not in harmony with the rest of the body, disease is more likely to happen."
There are also many fascinating scientific studies mentioned (in this article) on the power of sound.
Releasing Trapped Emotions:
Have you ever had a good cry after days of feeling overwhelmed? A good cry session somehow makes you feel better doesn't it? That is one way you are releasing negative energy, and your body feels so relieved afterwards. This article provides some scientific findings on the power of crying. It's pretty cool.
An excerpt from the 'tears' article:
"Volunteers were led to cry first from watching sad movies, and then from freshly cut onions. The researchers found that the tears from the movies, called emotional tears, contained far more toxic biological byproducts. Weeping, they concluded, is an excretory process which removes toxic substances that normally build up during emotional stress."
(I believe that the term "biological byproducts" is just another name for: our energy that we accumulate during times of sadness, extreme happiness, stress, etc. The picture above shows the physical difference in our tears based on the emotions that produced them. The energy of each emotion is biologically different.)
I could go ON and ON about energy, but hopefully that is an introduction that sufficeth any of you who may be curious and/or skeptical when you hear the word "energy". Please feel free to contact me with any other questions!
Have you ever felt that you were trapped because you feel like you inherited some negative attributes from your parents, or grandparents? What they do can affect you because you grew up with them, but there are actual genetic components too. There have also been studies that show that sometimes, trauma that your ancestors experienced can be passed down genetically and affect you physically, mentally, and emotionally. These emotions are deeply trapped energetically; but the foot zone can help clear those emotions. Here is the study: http://www.ozy.com/fast-forward/can-trauma-be-passed-from-parent-to-child/70261
